It is fair to add that the AF in 24-105/4L II is not any slower. Regarding DOF the 24-105 provides more background blur at 105/4 then the 24-70 at 70/2.8. So deciding between these two is really not about which is better (both are equally very good) but how the lens will be used. Canon_Guy's gear list:
Rs. 319,500.00. An advanced one-lens solution, the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM is a Canon L-series zoom covering wide-angle to short-telephoto focal lengths and featuring a constant f/4 maximum aperture. The Canon EF 24–105 mm f/4L II USM IS starts with a metal bayonet mount which goes round a contact plate and a black 30×25 mm frame. Inside the frame you see an element 29 mm in diameter. It is situated almost on the same level as the mount at 24 mm focal length. When you pass to 105 mm it hides inside about 3 cm deep.

Really struggling deciding between getting an RF 24-105 f/4 + RF 35 f/1.8 for bokeh/portraits, or instead, pony-ing up and getting an RF 24-70 f/2.8 + RF 70-200 f/2.8.
In 2005, Canon released the Canon 24-105 mm 4.0 as kit lens for the Canon 5D. Today, this lens is often bundled with the Canon 5D MK2 Canon 5D MK3. The brightness of the Canon 24-105 mm is less than that of lenses with a fixed focal length. You therefore encounter a longer shutter speed and the chance of a blurred image increases.
Excepting some focus inconsistency, this lens performs very well both physically and optically. The Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary Lens provides a great range of very long focal lengths in a relatively light weight and low-priced package, making it well suited for a wide variety of "Contemporary" uses.
The Canon EF 24-105mm announced in 2005 was replaced by a mark II in 2016, so it lasted 11 years. 2015 is not very long ago. yeah, but Canon are miserable like that, the 85 1.8 and 50 1.4 ware 30 years old and Canon never updated those even though they were outdated rubbish.
Ergonomics. The Canon 24-105mm f4 L IS USM II is a lens option that is also typically a kit lens offering. Some photographers prefer to go for the 24-70mm f2.8 but for years, I preferred the 24

Verdict. The full-frame compatible Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM has the same focal length and aperture rating as Canon’s EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM pancake lens, the latter being designed for APS-C format DSLRs. The full-frame ‘EF’ lens is still reasonably compact and easily manageable at 68x56mm and 280g. It has a more conventional build, based
