Did you check your EGR system?
Mondygeek. Auxillay belts tend to break and smash through the timing cover and knocking the timing out causing a dead engine. This is the most common problem I read on here with mk4 diesels. Mondeo mk3 2004 2.0tdci (scrapped).. fiesta mk7 2010 1.4 auto (sold)..
The MK4.5 Mondy 2.0 TDCi unit IS a revised version of the engine in the MK4, you get a bit more performance and crucially the DPF is the non-maintenance version i.e. it's a coated DPF (cDPF) instead of the stupid Peugeot system involving the "eolys fluid".the drivers side drive shaft in the centre is common for failing the bit just before the actual centre bearing. the centre bearing being held in place with an exhaust type clamp. symptoms are violent shaking, a little arround 20mph then shaking violently at 50-60. probably more common on diesels than anything else. ziJB3.
